Joel grew up in Port Alsworth, AK and was saved at a young age. As a teenager, Joel was active in camp work, serving in multiple positions. He was also given several opportunities to go on missions trips to the villages in Alaska and one mission trip to Africa. From there, Joel and his family moved to Pinedale, WY to assist Pastor Jason Reasor in the work of planting a church.
